Caribbean Nutrition Day 2021
Healthy Eating Active Living:
- Be a Good Label Detective - Read It Before You Eat It! -
This year's theme focuses on the importance of improved consumer health literacy particularly in light of the adoption of the octagonal "High in" front of package warning labels (FOPWL) - part of the Regional labelling standard for pre-packaged food. Considering the COVID-19 pandemic and the repercussions of this unprecedented event, now more than ever, consumers need to understand nutrition label terminology and how to navigate front and back of package labelling. This year's theme provides an opportunity for dietetics and nutrition practitioners across the Region to educate consumers on how to decipher nutrition label facts.

The leadership of the Caribbean Association of Nutritionists and Dietitians (CANDi) remains cognizant of the impact that the COVID-19 outbreak has on the quality of life, ecosystems and absolute human existence and survival. As a result of the pandemic, thousands have experienced pain, suffering, and loss of lives. Due to physical distancing protocol, many have died alone without loved ones at their side.
The team at the Caribbean Association of Nutritionists and Dietitians are committed to encourage and support dietitians and nutritionists in the Region and across the globe. Our support extends toward to dietitian-nutritionists on the frontline or remotely helping patients, as public health officials work collectively to reduce the negative impact in the fight against this unprecedented outbreak. Thank you and remain safe.
